Fig. Cross-sectional images of Fe0/HDPE membrane by a reflective microscope: (a) before and (b) after an diffusion experiment (G in Table 2). The unreacted and reacted membranes look uniformly black and yellow, respectively. A dark belt can be seen in the middle of the both membranes, but this part in fact is not different in color. It is the highest point of the cross-sectional surface and is simply over-focused.
