Department of Civil Engineering Robert Dexter Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Robert Dexter Memorial Scholarship Fund was created to honor the contributions of the Universityof Minnesota Department of Civil Engineering's Associate Professor Robert Dexter. Dexter was one of the nation's top resources in the area of fracture mechanics in steel structures. His passing cut short a rising career in applied steel research, one that touched an unusually wide number of areas, from fatigue problems in bridges and buildings, to cracking in ship panels, to the collapse of overhead highway signs. Professor Dexter was also active in undergraduate student activities, serving as the ASCE University of Minnesota Chapter Advisor for many years.
This scholarship seeks to continue Robert Dexter's legacy of teaching and excellence in his field and will help to support students participating in activities that enhance their professional development outside of the classroom while pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering.

Giving to the Department Through Your Estate
Providing for the Department of Civil Engineering in your estate plan is a simple way to make a profound impact. There are many ways to make such a provision. Among the easiest is placing a bequest to the department in your will. Such a gift does not deplete needed income for living expenses, and often allows you to make a more financially siginificant gift than would have been possible during life.
