Admissions

Freshmen

The University of Minnesota Office of Admissions handles all applications for undergraduate admission into the Institute of Technology. All freshmen enter IT lower division, where they spend their first two years taking foundation math and science courses. Lower division students can select a major, but don't officially become majors in a department until they petition for admission to upper division.

Transfer students

Many civil engineering undergraduates begin their studies at two- or four-year schools and transfer into the program as juniors or seniors. The Office of Admissions handles all transfer applications into the Institute of Technology.

Financing your education

Financial aid is available in the form of loans, grants and scholarships. The Office of Student Finance administers all financial aid programs at the University.

Entering lower division students are eligible for some collegewide and Universitywide scholarships. Students who have a declared major or interest in civil engineering can apply for Civil Engineering department scholarships.

The University of Minnesota is an equal opportunity educator and employer.
