Advising


Lower Division Advising

Freshmen and sophomores should contact the Office of Lower Division Programs, 128 Lind Hall, 612-624-2890. The office also coordinates tutoring services for IT classes.

Upper Division Advising

Prof. Joe Labuz is the CE Department's director of undergraduate studies. Students with questions about course substitution requests, technical electives, degree requirements, or probationary status review, can contact him by e-mail or in person. His office hours are Wednesdays 9:00-11:00 and 14:00-16:00 or by appointment.

General advising sessions

General advising sessions will be held twice each semester before the start of registration. Notification of the advising sessions will be posted in the Civil Engineering Building and sent through e-mail. In addition, e-mail with information on scholarships, FE exam dates, and other items will be sent throughout the academic year.

Other resources

Students are encouraged to interact with faculty and contact them for making technical elective selections, career decisions (especially considering graduate studies), and for letters of recommendations. Questions in specific areas of civil engineering can be addressed to the following faculty:

APAS

The APAS (Academic Progress Audit System) report is used for clearing students for graduation. Students should periodically (once per semester) check their APAS report on One Stop.
