Undergraduate Research

Undergraduates in the Civil Engineering Department have many opportunities to participate in department research. Students work in the department's structures lab, and in other department facilities. In addition, the University of Minnesota has two key programs offering research support for undergraduates:

• The Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP), offers current University of Minnesota students a chance to work with faculty members on specific research projects.
• The Multicultural Summer Research Opportunity Program (MSROP) offers funding for students from other universities to spend a summer term at the University of Minnesota working with faculty members.

IT students also have many opportunities to spend a semester or year studying abroad.
